Wake Bridge

Chausuyama, which was Ieyasu's head-quarters during the winter siege of Osaka Castle and where Yukimura took up his position during the summer siege, resulting in the area becoming a grueling battlefield, together with the Kawazoko Pond, created during the Nara period when Wake no Kiyomaro tried to bring the water of the Kawachi River towards the south are all important parts of the Tennoji Park. It is said that in 788, when Wake no Kiyomaro leveled the Uemachi Plateau in order to change the former Yamato River's path, he used the moat around Chausuyama Tumulus, and that the Kawazoko Pond is a remain of this project, which is why a bridge there is called "Wake Bridge".
